Analysts over at IHS iSuppli, a renowned research firm, have concluded after thorough market research that the iPad will continue to reign supreme in the tablet market up till at least 2013. The California based research firm has increased its initial forecasted sales of the iPad from 43.7 million to 44.2 million units. This increase has been anticipated as a result of Apple’s rectification of its supply issues, as earlier this year it struggled to produce enough iPad 2 units to keep up with the demand.
Rhoda Alexander, Sr. Manager of Tablet and Monitor research is quoted to have said “The competition can’t seem to field a product with the right combination of hardware, marketing, applications and content to match the iPad.” And that “All the momentum in the media tablet market is with Apple right now.”
The dominance of Apple’s lineup of the iPad is anticipated to continue till 2013 and even as far as 2015, when the iPad is expected to make up 44% of tablet sales. iSuppli has also increased its sforecast for overall tablet sales to 60 million units in 2011, which means the iPad will account for three fourths of worldwide tablet sales by the end of this year. With the expected launch of the iPad3 to be in March 2012, it is almost certain that Apple will be the center of attention and the market leader in tablet technology.
Around this time of the year is when all sorts of Apple rumors kick in, and let’s face the fact that they basically are rumors. What people or ‘sources’ claim are just their opinions or something they have heard along the grapevine, rumors that have absolutely no backing whatsoever.
Recently I read a report on a Chinese website that claimed the next iPad, i.e. iPad3 or iPad2+ or whatever Apple decides to call it, is going to come out in time for the holiday season. The apparent claim was that Apple wanted an iPad3 to be under the Christmas tree of every household by the time the holidays. By the time I was finished reading that report, I wanted to find out who was this writes ‘source’ so I could meet him and knock some sense into him.
Apple is known to strictly follow a one year product life cycle program, meaning they wait an year at least to release a newer model of any of their iDevice line of products. Why is the world would Apple release
The folks over at iD Software, developers of the hugely successful killing-spree game titles such as Doom & Quake, are now offering their most successful game on the iOS platform, RAGE, for absolutely nothing! That’s right, for free!
iD Software promised that when their Facebook page would have reached 100,000 likes they would give out their most anticipated title to hit the iOS platform for absolutely no cost. When their Facebook page was liked by the 100,000th subscriber, iD Software manned up and delivered what their promised.
If you head over to the Apple Appstore right now, you will see that two versions of RAGE are being
Researchers from the EHCI Research Group have been working on some pretty cool head-tracking technology to allow the iPad 2 to produce 3D images without the use of special 3D glasses. The front facing camera on the iPad 2 has been made to track the users head movement and then corresponding to the position of their head display a certain image so they end up with a 3D effect.
The demos shown in the video below are not anything mind blowing but with some more time I’d be interested to see what they and other developers produce using the technology.
